TACKLING OUR
GLASS PROBLEM

Glass containers (Bottles/Jars) are 100% recyclable. With the correct collection, it can be melted endlessly without ever losing its quality. Despite this, over 4.8 billion containers end up in landfill each year in the UK.
We are going to change that.

OUR MISSION

Every-time you deposit glass into a Reserve Vending
Machine...

Recycle

Your glass will be re-melted and re-used

Reward

You will receive Glassify points which unlock promotions

Educate

You will learn more about the planet and what we can do to minimise our impact

Discover

We'll calculate the positive impact you are making on the planet.

The problem is complex but the solution is simple...

BETA TRAIL

AT Reglassify HQ we’ve been working hard to make this mission a reality. That’s why we are launching a BETA trial to evaluate if households are willing to deposit glass separately from other recyclable materials.
This trial is a crucial step to move forward, and we welcome everyone to participate; by doing so, you will gain access to exclusive deals from coffee shops, restaurants, and online Food & Beverage companies.
To learn more about why we are doing this and how you can significantly contribute to a more sustainable future, watch the video below.

THE
DATA

Approximately 15.2 billion glass containers are used in the UK each year.
Below is the percentage split of what happens to our glass after disposal:

28% Close Loop Recycling (CLR)
Continuously recycled and reintegrated into the same product or a similar product without significant degradation or loss of quality

32% Landfill

40% Downcycled
Recycled in to products of lower value or quality compared to the orignal glass

1.7 tonnes of landfill = 4.8 billion bottles and jars. That’s equivalent to...

Circulating the circumference of the world 18 times

world

Going to the moon and back

13,4000London buses

12,000aeroplanes

CO2 Equivalent to Flying a Boeing 737 filled with passengers non-stop for nearly 9 years! Equivalent water usage to filling up over 4,000 Olympic swimming pools!

Manufacturing new glass continues to deplete our natural resources (sand, limestone & soda ash), disrupting the ecosystem. As glass is infinitely recyclable, we should strive to end this problem!

These statistics only account for materials ending up in landfill. However, when downcycled, glass is lost to the construction of buildings and roads - never to be reused again. The impact of this process isn’t straightforward, but represents another illogical approach to dealing with an infinitely recyclable material.

ABOUT US

image pf-image

The start of my adult life was spent chasing my dream of becoming a professional rugby player. However, an unexpected curveball changed my course. An unfortunate neck injury ended my rugby career, and after a necessary operation, I found myself with the opportunity to rethink my path: the recycling world has become my new playing field.

I have always had a lot of respect for the environment. during my recovery, I realised how much recyclable material was wasted daily, and this bothered me. I felt a growing desire to make a difference. I've always believed in leaving a place better than you found it, and so I've embarked on this journey to help our planet. After hanging up my rugby boots, I dived headfirst (safely) into learning about recycling processes, sustainable waste management, and the latest eco-friendly innovations. I was fascinated by the current issues and opportunities to improve recycling. this is how Reglassify was born.
